121/1939) Home:  Doc Perdue's Bobcat West Coast Red Ale by Cowbell Brewing Co. of Ontario:  **1/2;  5.5%, 30 ibu;  pours red;  basically it's a hoppy Scotch ale;  piney citrus nose;  citrus and tropical notes;  piney finish;  the red ale elements add a new and interesting dimension to the West Coast  IPA style;

The story, from the tin, goes that Doctor Perdue was Blyth's veterinarian in the late 1880s.  He collected exotic animals and was known to enjoy a drink.  One night on being cut off he went home and returned with a bobcat on a leash threatening to let it loose if he wasn't served another drink.

122/1940) Home: Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout by North Coast Brewing Co. of California, U.S.A.:  **1/2;  9%;  nose is alcohol, bitter chocolate, coffee;  flavours of dark, bitter coffee, alcohol, raisins, hint of anise and just a touch caramel towards finish;  a marvellous RIS;

On the label, it reads, "Never say die".
